Why do I need an MOT?

Any vehicle over 3 years old is required to have an annual safety check which is called an MOT test (Ministry of Transport test). This test checks that the vehicle meets the standard legal safety levels.

During the MOT, your vehicle will be thoroughly checked inside, outside, under the bonnet and underneath, with all inspections carried out in line with DVSA standards. If everything is in order, you’ll receive a pass certificate, though there may sometimes be advisory items noted that you’ll need to keep an eye on for the future.
